Border County Archaeology tour Welshpool
The 14th July 2007 proved to be a classic cold and wet summer’s evening when the lounge of the Royal Oak Hotel beckoned invitingly, but the hardy members of Border County Archaeology enjoyed a magical mystery tour of Welshpool. Down-lane and up-alley they were led by Jeff Spencer who described the fascinating glimpses of the Roman and Dark Age past that archaeological work in and around the town had afforded, and shared with them the surprises and secrets of this planned medieval town and its development up to the 20th century.
