Ffrith and Time Team revisited!
CPAT were invited to give the annual lecture at Ffrith Community Council’s AGM and it was agreed that an illustrated talk about the TimeTeam excavations
in the village undertaken in April 2005 would be of widest appeal. Jeff Spencer guided the audience through the excavation report written by
Wessex Archaeology and presented the results of the project. The features excavated suggested the presence under the village of a Roman building of
relatively high status accompanied by other, smaller buildings within a walled enclosure. The finds suggested the buildings were in use in the 2nd and
3rd centuries AD. The evening ended with an appeal for the people of Ffrith to give CPAT advance warning of any building work in the village to give
archaeologists another chance to learn more about their fascinating village.
Dear Jeff,
Just a short note to thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to visit us in Ffrith. Your talk was greatly appreciated by all those who
attended and certainly brought to life the necessarily rather detailed and dry content of the Wessex report.
Thanks, Jane Amos, Ffrith Community Council.
