Old Oswestry Landscape and Archaeology Project Fourth Annual Seminar

Displays © OOLAP

The CPAT travelling display Romans in Mid Wales, once again spent a day at the Marches School in Oswestry as part of the Old Oswestry Landscape and Archaeology Project Fourth Annual Seminar. This year’s seminar coincided with the 1600th anniversary of the departure of the Romans from our shores and concentrated on the turbulent times which followed. Speakers included Dr Roger White, Margaret Worthington, Professor Nancy Edwards, Dr David Mason and Dr David Stephenson. Themes explored included how the people of the Northern March were affected by the departure of the Romans and what evidence is there to help us understand this crucial period in development of our area?

Once again the seminar was extremely well attended (240 people!) coming from North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire, Powys, and even Hungerford and Cornwall!
