Probably early Victorian remodelling of older fabric. 3 storeys. Ashlared stucco. 3 unevenly-spaced horned sash windows with glazing bars. Victorian types of moulded 6-panel door and bracketed hood. Projecting eaves and gable on right. Chamfered brick stacks. Modern tablet records historical importance: "This house was erected in 1692..... occupied by..... Robert Owen (1741-1804), father of Robert Owen (1771-1858), the Social Reformer..... the house became an inn..... until..... 1906". Occupies conspicuous position at central cross-roads of town. Formerly bore tablet "1/GA/1692".
