Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


Brynyfryd

Brynyfryd lies in the community of Gwernymynydd in the county of Flintshire. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SJ21406200. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18026 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Lead (Early 19th century-1886)

Geology
Carboniferous Limestone.

Workings
At least twelve shallow shafts of various sizes remain in a field of improved pasture at SJ21406200.

Transport
On the lower side of the field, the wheelpit base of the Bryngwyn Quarry tramway remains at SJ21306210 and the direction of the incline can be traced across the field and on the Limestone escarpment of Bryngwyn.
