Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


Gwter-Siani

Gwter-Siani lies in the community of Penycae in the county of Wrexham. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SJ24504990. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18087 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Lead (19th century)

Geology
Cefn-y-fedw Sanstone overlying Carboniferous Limestone.

Workings
The vein runs north and cuts the South Minera Vein; the workings were probably conducted by South Minera. Shallow shafts appear in the area.

Gwter Siani also refers to the leat that follows the contours the hillside.
