Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


Moel Dwyll

Moel Dwyll lies in the community of Cilcain in the county of Flintshire. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SJ15306350. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18127 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Gold Trials (1888-89)

Geology
Ludlow Rocks of the Silurian Period.

Workings
Disused levels, possibly the trials for gold are evident on the hillside of Moel Dywyll in the Clwydian Range, within the Moel Famau Country Park. The levels appear to the east and west of the Offa's Dyke Path as in traverses the hills.
