which are now lost), extensive excavation University of Wales, Cardiff and
National Museum of Wales dated to crannog to the 9th century AD with dendro

indicated widespread oak and hazel forest in the vicinity of the catchment of
the river Severn with a lesser component including heathers and herb pollen
