Talgarth Church, medieval settlement, Powys

Medieval settlement found during pre-planning evaluation adjacent to St Gwendoline's Church, Talgarth. Pits  burnt material, important collection of domestic cooking pots and bowls from the C12th.  C12th-early C15th occupation - crop processing and possible malting. Tap-slags and hearth bottoms suggest smithing and smelting (CPAT SMR PRN 13094)

Ty Mawr house, Castle Caereinion, Powys

Medieval aisled house, 14th/15th century. Extensively surveyed (with minor excavation) and recently restored to habitation. Dendrochronology dated building to AD1458 or AD1460. C14 dates. 'Building of the Year' award from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2000 (against direct competition from the Sydney Olympic village !)  (CPAT SMR PRN 2419)
