Survey for the County Council and University of Manchester by Dr W Sowerbutts and Messrs G Eyre-Morgan and P Robbins in 1987 noted the Roman road to the SW as a cropmark each side of Glascoed Hall and again at SJ269535. At SJ261531 and SJ263532 traces of
hydraulicing for lead ore were observed (PRNs 88741 & 88742). Cropmarks and surface traces indicated a rectangular earthwork at SJ284548 (PRN 88739). A geophysical survey in the village was also undertaken (PRN 38255) (Frere, S S, 1988, pp416).
