Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


Cefn-yr-Ogof

Cefn-yr-Ogof (also known as Gwyrch Castle) lies in the community of Llanddulas and Rhyd-y-foel in the county of Conwy. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SH92707750. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18038 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Geology
Carboniferous Limestone.

Workings
The eastern workings of the sett lie within the grounds of Gwyrch Castle. Shafts remain on the fields of pasture at SH92207730, SH99257730, and SH92607740.
