Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


Pen-yr-Orsedd

Pen-yr-Orsedd lies in the community of Halkyn in the county of Flintshire. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SJ21106800. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18166 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Lead/Silver (1864-1889)

Geology
Carboniferous Limestone.

Workings
The mine worked to the south of Rhosesmor and was worked extensively to the depth of the Halkyn Deep Level Tunnel. Earthworks remain at SJ21256780 and an isolated shaft to the south at SJ21406740 was located on the edge of the Rhosesmor Sand and Gravel Pit.
