Powys Metal Mines Survey


Tylwch

Tylwch lies in the community of Llangurig in the county of Powys. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SN96208068. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18999 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Lead (1855-1857)

Geology
Silurian Frongoch formation mudstones and shales with galena mineralisation in a single north-south striking lode.

Workings
Six levels descend the hillside with four at SN96208070 and two on the south side of the Afon Dulas at SN96068065. There is a further single level to the north-east at SN95838105. Most of these levels are run-in.
