Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


True Blue

True Blue lies in the community of Holywell in the county of Flintshire. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SJ17907560. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 33185 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Lead/Silver/Zinc (Early 19th century-1901)

Geology
Carboniferous Limestone.

Workings
The True Blue sett worked the string off the Holloway Vein. The vein cuts the road up to Pen-y-ball Top from the Holloway Road and the workings can be traced as a line of shafts and mounds that run north to south from SJ28027584, to the north-west of the modern covered reservoir and viewpoint to SJ17927528, being the Sir Edward sett (18198).
