Photographs of character area

CPAT PHOTO 05-C-170 Brecon, viewed from the south with the suburb of Llanfaes and Christ College to the left of the river Usk and St John’s Priory Church, now Brecon Cathedral towards the centre, to the right of the river. The early settlement appears to have been established adjacent to the castle and the priory on the far side of the wooded valley of the Honddu river, subsequently extending to the area of the planned medieval town towards the right. The houses in the background represent the expansion of the town in the 19th and 20th centuries. Photo: CPAT 05-C-170.

CPAT PHOTO 05-C-174 Brecon, viewed from the south-west showing the wooded grounds of the Castle Hotel and the remains of the medieval castle in the right foreground and the Cathedral towards the left. The medieval bridge crossing the river Usk is visible in the foreground. Photo: CPAT 05-C-174.
